The first time that we listened to the La La Land soundtrack, it immediately struck a cord with the idea that following our dreams can ultimately give us happiness. After seeing the movie for the first time, we felt insanely inspired. The colors, the music, the acting; everything about this film is why we love planning and bringing concepts to life with the power of design. Pulling together a team who felt the same emotion from seeing the movie and listening to the songs was surprisingly simple. Every vendor involved in this shoot felt the same emotions and push after seeing the film. We all felt inspired and ready to tackle this elopement shoot.
Our idea was to create an elopement shoot that was inspired by scenes in the film with fun and bright colors, paired with moody undertones that set you up to feel like you’re part of the cast. We really wanted to tell a story… Our bride, an actress who is following her dream of being cast in the perfect film meets our groom, a struggling musician, who has a dream of his own to play piano around the world. Two lovers destined to be together meet and fall in love. Knowing that their dreams are important, but so is their relationship, our leading man, Oliver, decides to propose to the classically beautiful Claire during breakfast in bed. Our marriage announcement is written as a screenplay to tie in Claire’s love for theater and film. This is a story about two fools who fell in love and dare to dream bigger while standing by each others side. We pulled elements straight from the movie including the old street lamps, the convertible car, dancing in the street and tying in quotes from the film to the paper products.
Noir Floral & Styling took an old stage piano and gussied it up by doing a beautiful floral installation, all paired with Standard Wax candles. The colorful pops of color helped bring our darker scenes to life, just like in the film. We supplied all furniture & specialty rentals, including that crescent moon backdrop that perfectly fits into the ‘city of stars’ idea. Our bridal gown from Bella Lily Bridal pays homage to the modern yet classic style of Emma Stone’s character in the film. A blue suit and men’s accessories from Magro Clothing fit our Ryan Gosling perfectly. A beautiful watercolor inspired cake from Sift Backhouse in Arizona was the cherry on top! With beautiful and crisp images from Jonnie + Garrett, we knew that this was the absolute dream team! We are beyond thrilled to share the images exclusively with Green Wedding Shoes. And with that, we say, “Here’s to the fools who dream!”
